description
The basic idea for the new headquarters for the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana is to concentrate all the vertical connections, special rooms, natural lighting,... in a series of tubes, telescopes, that work as the structure of the building, leaving all the floors as open plans without pillars or fixed divisions and allowing a maximum flexibility.
These tubes work as well as light conductors and at the same time, they provide the building with a system of natural ventilation and heat regulation for eco-sustainability.
A group of moveable metal sunshades surround the building. They control the sun light and the high temperatures for the summer as well as give a moving facade that changes all the time the face of the building, recomposing a virtual floating cube elevated on the air.
